— A 35-year-old Boca Raton man has been sued by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for charging people upfront for loan modification services, in violation of state law.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, Bondi claims Jarod Grob, owner of the now defunct U.S. Mitigators, charged people $2,100 to help them sort out foreclosure problems.
State law prohibits charging a fee before service is completed.
Grob faces a possible fine of $15,000 for each person he charged an illegal fee.
He was not immediately available for comment.
