Multi Family Foreclosures and Budget Cuts Affect Housing Programs

Although single family and multi family foreclosures are not as high in Nebraska as in other U.S. states, they still have some impact on the various sectors of the region. Just like other areas of the country, Nebraska is also dealing with the impact of the recession and has instituted a number of public financial adjustments to cope with the difficulties.

The problem of foreclosures in Omaha and in the whole state might not be as severe as in other areas, but the region also faces issues regarding homelessness.

At business park, sights and sounds of upturn

 

A spate of recent activity at Interwood Business Park in north Houston signals that businesses are investing again.

“I think the activity we’re seeing right now is indicative of businesses’ confidence in the strength of the Houston economy,” said David Hightower, executive vice president and chief development officer of Wolff Cos. Wolff started the park in 1983.

Residential Foreclosures Pulled Home Prices Down in Indianapolis

Residential foreclosures continue to account for a huge percentage of housing unit sales in Indianapolis, Indiana, last year. Home sales figures from the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) saw a year-over-year increase in prices nationwide for the second time in five years. However, Indianapolis posted a decline in 2010.

The decline in housing sales prices was largely attributed by housing market analysts to Indianapolis foreclosures. The metro area’s average selling home price dropped to $197,800 in 2010 compared with $225,900 in 2009, representing a 12.4% decline. Full Article…

Selling and Flipping Properties Picked Up in Oklahoma City in January

Regular homebuyers, real estate investors and those involved in flipping properties all contributed to the rise in housing unit sales in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, last month. Sales figures for January 2011 were higher than both the 2010 and 2009 figures despite the cold winter weather.

Sales of residential properties, including foreclosed homes in Oklahoma City, recorded a total of 848 in January, up 20.1% from the January 2010 total of 706 and posting an increase of 14.4% compared with January 2009, when 741 housing units were sold.

Real Estate Brokers Have Fewer Foreclosures to Sell in March

Real estate brokers are set to handle less number of foreclosed properties in the coming month of March if the number of foreclosures posted for auction is to be used as gauge. In Denver-Fort Worth, Texas, foreclosed properties posted for the March 2011 auction has declined compared with the same 2010 month.

Fort Worth foreclosure homes up for auction in the third month of the year declined by 9% compared with March 2010. The decline follows a 19% increase recorded in February of this year. Full Article…
